Settlement weeks in Ft. Bend County are scheduled during the Spring and Fall Judicial Conference Weeks each year and is administered through the Fort Bend County Dispute Resolution Center in cooperation with the county’s County Court at Law Judges, district court judges and trial coordinators. For these two respective weeks, cases which the courts or attorneys feel are suitable for ADR are referred to the DRC for mediation.

In 1989, the Texas Legislature enacted Chapter 155 of the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code, requiring two settlement weeks each year in counties with populations of 150,000 or greater.   During Settlement Weeks, attorneys with cases in either Fort Bend County Courts as Law or Fort Bend County District Courts, submit pending cases to the DRC to be mediated by volunteer mediators at no charge to the participants.
