The Fort Bend County Dispute Resolution Center offers a 24-Hour Family Mediation Training Class.

The Family Law Mediation Training course is designed to assist mediators in understanding advanced skills needed to mediate a variety of family law related matters. The course will explore varying elements of family law mediation that include dissolution of marriage, suits affecting the parent child relationship, conservatorship, child support, parental rights and dividing of assets. This program complies with both the Texas statutory requirement for mediation training (Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code Ann.) as well as the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable Standards for Family Mediation Training.

Prerequisite: 40 Hour Basic Mediation Training (A copy of the 40 Hour Certificate is required to register.) Class is limited to 12 participants.  Training schedules will be updated as they are scheduled.  The next dates for the Family Law Mediation Training have not yet been determined.

40-Hour Basic Mediation Training

The Fort Bend County Dispute Resolution Center offers a basic 40-hour mediation training. The training is taught by our Chairman of the Board, Jacqueline Blankenship, and our Executive Director, Shelly Hudson. During this 40-hour training, participants serve as third-party neutrals, settlement advocates, and parties to the dispute. Emphasis is on the practice of mediation through intensive skills training. Participants develop an appreciation both for the functioning of the third-party neutral and for the advocate’s role in the Alternative Dispute Resolution process. All participants will have the opportunity to participate in mock mediations. During this time, you will hone your skills and learn how to become a successful mediator. This intensive training complies with both the Texas statutory requirement for mediation training, (§ 154.052 Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code) and the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable Standards for Mediation Training as well as qualifies participants for admission into the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. Upon completion, students will receive their mediation certificate.  This training is generally only offered once a year, and this may vary. The next 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training dates have not yet been scheduled.

Basic and Family Mediation Training dates will be posted once they have been scheduled. Thank you.
